About the theme:
First thing that came to my mind when i saw this picture was a quote from hellboy 2, that weird kid in the troll market that says: "i'm not a baby, i'm a tumor". No pun intended, i liked that one, so i see that as a compliment. It also remembers me of the super-sized Tetsuo from Akira, when his body begins to grow without any kind of control, and he looks like a walking cancer. As i said in the WIP comments, twisted enough for me.
About the technique:
Amazing and beautifully rendered. The waxy texture and highlights gives the impression of a skin that is too-much stretched, as if it could rip at any moment. I can buy that one.
The pink-magenta shades around the bigger growths show that they're FULL, and that probably will splatter the observer with gore if the skin bursts somehow. About that, I think that the veins would look better if you had added a bluish-greenish shade to them, specially in those pipe-sized ones around the armpit.
Another consideration is, since you painted the bigger growths in waxy-pink, you could have given a slightly different shade to the smaller ones near the center of the image. Maybe bluish, maybe rotten-green, or simply a darker shade of magenta.
I think that the face is one of the best parts of the painting. That peaceful-but-distressed look is quite unsettling, which adds a little more disturbing quality to the picture. Maybe you should have added a little more detail around the "ears" (or the things that appear to be ears in the picture, the two lumps of meat at each side of the cranium).
About the surroundings, the darkness seems to swallow the character, and that's another bouns for the disturbing and sick mood.
Another thing that maybe could be tweaked is the overlapping between the arm on the down-right side of the image and the (main?) body, and the overlapping between the big-rounded lump of flesh in the center of the image and the (arm? tube-of flesh?) in the upper-left. if you had added a little more darkness, as in the background surrounding the character, it would have had more depth. Note that i don't mean more contrast to that parts of the picture, the blurry look contributes to the sick and unsetting quality of the image, i mean only to add a blurry darkness, as if the background was trying to hug the character and drag him to the depths of hell or something like that.
General veredict:
A beautiful piece, with a really twisted mood (that i can appreciate) and beautifully rendered. Even if i think that some little tweaks could be done to the image to achieve almost-perfection, I think that this image is one of the best I have seen this year in DA. I can't wait for more of this stuff.
Godspeed!
