 The colors in the background work well. Keeping the victim on the ground unfinished and the background rough maintains focus on the central character in the piece.
Strange that there is a definite light source on your character but the light is only vaguely suggested in the background. I love how I can see your brushstrokes. Is there a story behind these characters? -- Visit me! --->[link] NO LONGER ACCEPTING COMMISSIONS.  I agree with spookygoss, the half finished background pulls the eye to the main character. I also enjoy the foreshortening on the victim.
